Q. How can one tell if there is flow to a disc meter?
A. One way to tell if there is flow to a Disc meter is to put a register on the meter, if there is the smallest amount of flow, the “low flow indicator” will turn. Another way to tell if there is flow to a disc meter is to put a paper clip on the meter head and if the paper clip moves then there is flow to the meter.
Q. I have a Recordall® disc meter in my stock and would like to use it on hot water. I cannot remember if this meter is the cold water version or the hot water version. How can I identify this meter, as it is not marked on the housing?
A. Look into the outlet port. You can see the chamber assembly. If the color of the chamber is white, the meter is a hot water meter. If the chamber is black, the meter is a cold water meter.
Q. If I accidently put the wrong type of register on a Recordall Disc Meter, can I still determine the correct reading?
A. Correct readings can be provided. Prior to installation of a register or an encoder register on a Badger meter, the installer should verify that the model designation on the face of the register matches the model of the meter. It is also recommended that the type of registration, gallons, cubic feet or meters cubed be verified to avoid confusion. This information is also printed on the face of each register. If an incorrect register is installed on a Recordall Disc Series meter, please click on the following link to view the correction chart to correct the reading.
