Q. A Badger® Fire Hydrant Meter can be attached directly to the fire hydrant. All turbine meters require straight pipe before the meter. Why is the Fire Hydrant meter different?
A. Badger has a double wall strainer that protects the meter and also helps condition flow. The meter also has a built in flow restrictor (orifice plate) to protect the meter from over-speeding.
Q. Does the Badger Fire Hydrant Meter require a special meter element (meter head) when it needs replacement?
A. A standard 3-inch Turbo Series Meter element is used in the Badger Fire Hydrant Meter.
