GALAXYnet FAQ
Q. When I change out a transmitter it is not showing in GALAXYnet, why is this happening?
A: The original Consumer record in GALAXYnet was not deleted so that it could be recreated with the correct information from a billing import. Please follow the steps below to properly update the GALAXYnet software.
1. Delete the old customer record by AMR number in Galaxy net by going to Maintenance and selecting delete Consumer / Site.
2. From the pop up you will want to select consumer only in the first drop down.
3. In the second drop down choose the site name.
4. In the third box change the AMR number to the one you want to delete. In the forth do the same as the third. Then click ok. This deletes a single consumer record.
5. Run an import so that the new transmitter and consumer record get placed in the database.
Q. How do I import a billing file into GALAXYnet if there is no information in the file path window?
A: Press the 3 dot button at the end of the file path field to browse to the file location on your PC or a network location. Once you have found the file and run the import, the file path will be saved as the default path the next time the import function is executed.
Q. When I run an import from billing and look at the temporary file window I see blanks for some accounts in the status field. Why?
A: The transmitter number that is assigned to the customer may already be in use.
1. Check the file for duplicates and fix them in billing.
2. Export a new file from billing
3. Run the import again.
Q. Why are some readings grayed out when I look at them in the consumer record?
A: They are grayed out due to an alert condition. Once the alert condition is cleared up the subsequent reads will not be grayed out.
Q. Why does the reading displayed in GALAXYnet for a consumer have the decimal point in the wrong place?
A: Placement of the decimal point is dependent on the meter register and meter resolution. Ensure the billing test circle code and the meter resolution codes match so the proper resolution is applied to the readings.
Q. Can we change the user that logs in on the GALAXYnet computer?
A: Yes, you can change the user but you will want to make sure the user is a local administrator on the local system.
Q. There was no read for an account on our collector and now that a read has come in it is showing the read as the consumption in the report. Will this be used for billing the customer?
A: No, the consumption information in GALAXYnet is only used within the software and does not get exported to billing.
Q. When looking at the monitor mode I see a 6 digit number come across for each gateway. What is this?
A: This is a status message from the gateway to the GALAXYnet computer. It lets GALAXYnet know the gateway is still active even if there are no transmitters near it that are transmitting.
Q. When I look at the monitor mode I see reads come in that are grayed out and have no AMR number. Why does this happen?
A: These are transmitters that have been installed but have not been entered into GALAXYnet from the billing file. Once the updated billing file with these transmitters assigned to a customer is imported these will show as a standard read in the monitor mode.
Q. I have a GALAXY transmitter attached to my meter but the readings always show 999999. Why is this happening?
A: When attaching the transmitter it may not have been connected correctly. Please consult the IOM for the correct wiring guide. The installation manuals can be found on the Badger Meter website or by clicking the links below.

Q. I have to do water bills in two days when should I do my import into GALAXYnet for my reads?
A: Importing the updated file the day before billing updates changes made to consumer records since the last billing cycle, such as a new tenant.
Q. I imported the wrong file or an outdated file into GALAXYnet what do I do now?
A: Contact Badger Meter Technical Support

Q. I have accounts that have more than one meter in billing but when I import them into GALAXYnet only one of the meters/transmitters shows up, why is this happening?
A: The GALAXYnet database requires unique account numbers. Contact Badger Meter Technical Support for help with setting up accounts to have multiple meters.

Q. I only have 5000 accounts in billing but GALAXYnet shows more AMR numbers. Why is this happening?
A: The AMR number is a unique record number in the GALAXYnet database and increments with each new record created. It does not represent the number of consumers currently in GALAXYnet only the number of records created.
Q. What is a Non Transmission exception in GALAXYnet?
A: The Non Transmission exception alert will be flagged for any transmitter that does not report in for 72 hours or more.
Q. What is the expected battery life of a GALAXYnet transmitter?
A: All Badger Meter Galaxy transmitters have a 20 year prorated warranty. The warranty can be found on the Badger Meter website by clicking the link below.

Q. What Do I need to program a GALAXY transmitter?
A: You will need the Install Tool software, the Infra Red programming head and the Trimble handheld in order to program a transmitter with an RTR® register. There is no need to program a transmitter if it is connected to an ADE® register.
Q. How do I force a transmission on a GALAXY transmitter?
