FAQs
ORION Mobile AMR
Q. What encoder can be used to connect an ORION® transmitter to a Badger® meter?
A. Either the RTR® or ADE® can be used to provide connectivity to ORION. Choose from the industry leading Recordall® Transmitter Register or the Absolute Digital Encoder to receive reliable accurate reading data for your ORION pit, remote or integral transmitter.
Q. Does the ORION reading system provide a GPS mapping program for reading meters?
A. The premium ORION mobile reading system utilizes a GPS mapping program as part of its reading software. The ORION premium reading software displays all the meters in the reading route so the user can see the status and location of all the meters and its operation can be customized to meet the specific needs of the utility.
Q. Does the ORION system provide a method for identifying accounts with potential leaks?
A. Leak detection capabilities are available through the ORION premium reading system and through the ORION Symbol Data Collector. The potential leak alarm notifies the meter reader of accounts that have a potential leak. The reader can take immediate action or the leak information can be downloaded and captured through reports in the customers CONNECT Software program.
Q. As an existing Badger technology customer, can ORION be integrated to work with my system?
A. Yes, an ORION RF system can be integrated into an existing Badger technology solution. The key to all Badger Meter AMR systems is CONNECT® Software. This route management software provides a flexible package that allows utilities to implement a single system or a mix of Badger’s manual, touch or radio technology solutions.
