Flexibility is the key! ORION® is Badger Meter’s most flexible automated meter reading system for water and gas utilities. Developed as a state-of-the-art, Radio Frequency (RF) system, ORION utilizes bubble-up (broadcast) technology, which eliminates the need for FCC licensing.
Built upon a mobile system platform, ORION provides features of a premier mobile AMR system plus the additional benefit of being able to integrate to Power Line Carrier, Broadband over Powerline, Adaptive Hierarchy, Wi-Fi, and other emerging technology networks. This flexibility results in a true multi-utility fixed network AMR solution and allows utilities to build upon their ORION system to meet their current and future needs.

The Clear Advantage. Badger has combined the latest advances in RF transmission, antenna technology and receiver sensitivity in the ORION system. In addition to the advanced technology, ORION has also been designed to provide utilities with an AMR system that format correctly between billing read. With the introduction of ORION’s data profiling feature and Water Meter Monitor, utilities now have additional tools to provide better customer service to their water users.

ORION Water Meter Monitor
Badger’s ORION Water Meter Monitor provides consumers with more than just a monthly look at their water consumption. It’s easily installed in the end-user's residence or commercial building and provides an on-demand visual display of the actual meter reading along with indication of leaks. For areas that are experiencing drought conditions or other water restrictions, this handy tool gives the utility’s customers the ability to comply with mandates and recommendations. It also expands water restriction options for the utility. Instead of odd-even watering mandates, more tailored programs can be developed because the monitoring information is available to the end customer. The ORION Water Meter Monitor helps to promote conservation of our most precious resource.

ORION Remote Data Profiler
The ORION Data Profile Transmitter or the Remote Profiler is just the thing for taking an in-depth look at water usage patterns. Over 21,000 readings with leak and tamper alerts can be saved in user programmable intervals in the ORION Data Profile Transmitter or Remote Profiler, providing additional information on water usage. It’s the ideal tool for addressing customer service issues, billing complaints, leak detection studies, audit conservation programs, and other water usage studies.
Profile data can be captured using either the ORION Premium Laptop Kit or the Badger®-Radix® Data Collector and can be graphed with any Windows®-based computer using the ORION Data Viewer Software. Data Profile Viewer is a powerful, yet intuitive application that allows the user to extract maximum value from the data profile information.
Through the use of industry standard communication protocols, the ORION system can be installed on existing Badger® Recordall® meters with either the industry leading Recordall Transmitter Register (RTR®) or the Absolute Digital Encoder (ADE®). Adding to ORION’s flexibility, the ORION Universal 1 Transmitter can be installed on approved Neptune®, AMCO®, Hersey or Sensus® meters and encoders.
