Alliances/Multi-Utility Solutions PLC Technology

The Power Line Carrier (PLC) fixed network technology that has proven so successful in reading electric meters is now able to deliver water and gas meter readings as well. Badger Meter has teamed with the industry’s two largest providers of PLC systems; Aclara TWACS^® and Landis+Gyr, to add ORION^® water and gas AMR to their existing capabilities.

Aclara and Landis+Gyr have incorporated Badger’s ORION receiver technology into versions of their PLC electric transponders – Aclara TWACS and Landis+Gyr TS2^® system. These PLC transponders can receive meter data transmissions from surrounding ORION water and gas modules, and include them in the data packets that are sent to the utility office.
