TASK
Drainage control of a flow restrictor via flow with magnetic inductive flow meter and electric slide in culvert construction. The magnetic inductive flow meter is always – even if there is no flow – fully flooded and therefore ready to measure. Control slide and measurement device are installed directly one after the other in a joint measurement and control manhole.

SOLUTION
If there is no culvert construction available, it may happen that the pipe is only partially filled in dry weather. The electromagnetic flow meter however requires that the pipe remains full, i.e. a minimum of liquid is required. Therefore a level measurement system for recognizing when it is raining must be installed, e.g. by way of pressure sensors are to be installed in the measurement pipeline transmitting the level to the system and allowing that values measured by the magnetic inductive flow meter are not processed until the pipe is completely filled.
Unlike Venturi, you can apply drainage controls with electromagnetic flow meters even in cases where most unfavourable hydraulic conditions are given, e.g. when backwater, high flow speeds and flood heights are occurring.

NOTE
Given a good ventilation of the two manholes, you can renounce an ex-protection of the magnetic inductive flow meter.
