Stonecutters Island Sewage Treatment Work (SCISTW) is the largest chemically enhanced primary treatment works with A design flow of 2,45 million cubic meters per day.

Challenge

Application: Sodium Chlorite Dosing

Odour smell control is one of the critical missions at SCISTW as the plant location is inside the urban area. Dosing chemicals such as sodium chlorite into sewage/sludge is one of the key control methods.

SCISTW is spending considerable amounts of money for chemicals on a daily basis. The customer was looking for an accurate flow measurement instrument to accurately measure the dosing volume and detect potential leakage.

Solution

Customer engaged York Choi, Badger Meter Hong Kong distributor, for a site survey with a DXN portable ultrasonic flowmeter.

After the site survey, the clamp on ultrasonic flowmeter turns out not to be suitable for chemical dosing flow rate measurement. Instead, the ModMAG® M2000 electromagnetic flow meter was proposed as a more suited technology in this case.
