COVID-19 Safety Measures: How We’ve Enhanced Our Procedures

Safety has always been of the utmost importance for Badger Meter employees, partners and the customers we serve, especially now as we navigate Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Safety has always been of the utmost importance for Badger Meter employees, partners and the customers we serve. As we continue to monitor COVID-19 and follow the local and national guidelines set in place to help contain the virus, we’re committed to providing exceptional, safe service to support the health and well-being of our customers and the community.

There are more than 153,000 public drinking water systems and 16,000 publicly owned wastewater treatment systems in the United States, according to the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). This government agency classifies what we do as essential to the industries we serve, including water, wastewater, energy and others, that are keeping global communities safely operating during this crisis.

We will continue to operate our business, consistent with all local requirements, regulations and restrictions, to provide these vital products and services to our customers. Our company remains dedicated to helping utilities keep their crucial water services functioning and improve operational efficiencies, including meter reading, customer service processes and citywide resiliency, with enhanced safety measures.

Every Badger Meter installer is required to follow these safety precautions recommended by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to help ensure the health and safety of our employees and the communities we serve. We are closely monitoring CDC guidelines as they evolve and will update our processes as the situation progresses:

  • Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use a liberal amount of hand sanitizer
  • Cough and sneeze into a tissue (or your elbow if you don’t have one) and then immediately wash your hands
  • Avoid touching your face, including eyes, nose and mouth
  • Practice social distancing by staying at least 6 feet apart when interacting with any members of the public
  • Avoid interaction with individuals that are sick and stay home if you have a cough or fever (at least 100.4° F), or are feeling sick in the slightest

Additionally, Badger Meter installers sanitize all tools, handhelds and project specific devices at the end of each day with a disinfectant.

Every one of us plays a crucial role in minimizing the impact of the COVID-19 virus, and we encourage all individuals to take precautionary measures to prevent it from spreading further. We’re all facing many uncertainties as we navigate this health crisis and its effects on our communities, but one thing remains the same: we will continue to move forward together.
