Return Material Authorization Request Form

Please complete the form with all details. Once the form is completed, a Badger Meter Customer Care representative will contact you with further information.

Do not return any material until you receive approval and a case number.

Customers outside the Americas and Canada, please use this International Return Form.

Return Instructions

Review the following information regarding the RMA process to ensure you have the best possible return experience.

Initiating the RMA Process:

  • Completely fill out the required information on all the following screens to submit your request. Badger Meter will reply to your request with an RMA if the request has been approved.
  • Vague descriptions like “product not working” will slow down the evaluation and review of your product claim.
  • DO NOT ship the product back to your distributor or Badger Meter until you have received shipping instructions related to this RMA request. Only Badger Meter representatives can authorize a return for warranty evaluation.
  • Failure to meet these requirements will result in the return of the unit to the customer or substantial cleaning charges.

Badger Meter classifies returned material into three categories for proper handling:

  1. New and unused; has never been installed in the field.
  2. Used and not contaminated; has been installed but has never come in contact with a material listed in 40 CFR 372.45, 40 CFR 355 Appendix A and B, or any other hazardous material. Returned goods MUST be accompanied by certification as to their use and with a proper SDS form.
  3. Used and contaminated; has been installed and has come into contact with a material listed in 40 CFR 372.45, 40 CFR 355 appendices A and B, or any other hazardous material.

All products being returned for warranty evaluation or repair are required to meet the following criteria:

  • A valid PO is required at the time an RMA form is submitted for accuracy and recertification.
  • Products must be flushed completely.
  • Fittings and attachments must be removed from the product.
  • SDS sheets are required.
  • Meters used in potable water applications do not require an SDS, but need to be properly flushed to remove sand, rust and other residue.
  • Minimum acceptable length from the hardware is 3 inches (76 mm) lead in order to splice.

Shipping Product:

  • DO NOT send fully assembled meter components (meter, encoder and endpoint) when the potentially malfunctioning component has been specifically identified. Doing so will result in products and/or newly replaced components being returned in separate shipments.
  • Reference the RMA Case Number on the package and include a copy of the RMA in the package or attached as a packing slip.
  • Items shipped for warranty evaluation need to be packed using packing material if necessary to avoid shipping damage. Shipping Damage is not covered by warranty!
