Badger Meter Confirms Commitment to Data Security with Recertification

The company has consistently maintained ISO 27001 certification and successfully conducted a SOC 2 (Service Organization Control) Type 2 examination of its Information Security Management System (ISMS).

MILWAUKEE, Wis., MAY 30, 2024 - Badger Meter, a leading global innovator and manufacturer of flow measurement, control and communications solutions, today announced it was again awarded ISO 27001 recertification and successfully conducted a SOC 2 (Service Organization Control) Type 2 examination of its Information Security Management System (ISMS). Since 2015, Badger Meter has completed an annual ISO 27001 certification and SOC 2 Type 2 examination, demonstrating a commitment to minimizing potential information security threats and ensuring trust with its customers.

The ISO 27001 audit analyzes how to appropriately operate, monitor and maintain an ISMS, whereas the SOC 2 Type 2 examination assesses companies based on five trust service principles: security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality and privacy. The Badger Meter ISMS allows the company to effectively manage sensitive data and infrastructure found within the cloud-based BEACON® Software as a Service (SaaS) and ensure customer data is not compromised.

Badger Meter retained Schellman & Co., LLC, a trusted independent audit firm, to conduct its annual ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type 2 examinations.

As water utilities look to find greater efficiencies and improved flexibility across their water systems, many are turning to BEACON SaaS from Badger Meter. This cloud-based platform is hosted offsite by a leading global cloud services provider, which reduces the need for utilities to maintain and update servers and operating software. Not only is BEACON SaaS quick to deploy, it does not require any hardware purchases and includes automatic software updates. Utilities using BEACON SaaS can also deploy cellular communications technology, which eliminates the need for costly fixed-network infrastructure, such as gateways. And they can encourage water conservation through the EyeOnWater® consumer engagement tool, which enables end consumers to see and understand their water use via an app on their smartphone, tablet or laptop.
